Kiwi NBA import Sean Marks has scored a career-high 18 points for the New Orleans Hornets.

It's come in the Hornets' 101-97 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.

The former Tall Black shot 75 per cent from the field on six for eight shooting and pulled down five rebounds in 24 minutes of court time.

The nine-season veteran's previous best had been 16 points - which he has achieved twice.

The Hornet's who were without injured All-Star point guard Chris Paul for the match, have now improved to 30-18 for the season and are the fourth ranked team in the Western Conference.

New Orleans next play the Memphis on Tuesday and then current NBA champions, Boston Celtics, at home on Thursday before the NBA takes a break for the annual All-Star weekend from Arizona.
