The Breakers have made their roster a great deal stronger with the signing of former Melbourne Tigers star Dave Thomas.
Thomas already has two ANBL Championship rings while playing for the Tigers in 2006 and 2007.
New Zealand now has nine confirmed players with one import spot still up for grabs. They are looking for a centre to fill that role.
The 32-year-old Thomas said it wasn't a tough decision to move across the Tasman.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the NZ Breakers family. I just had my first son and the Breakers commitment to 'one team one family' aligns with my own values and beliefs," he said.
"Over the years I have heard nothing but great things about this organisation and it will be a pleasure to play for such a professional, well run club like the Breakers."
Canadian Thomas has played 34 times for his national side but has spent most of his basketball career in Australia (since 2002).
DT, as he's nicknamed, has had tremendous success on the basketball court and wants to add to that with a league title for the Breakers in 2009/10.
Thomas will bring experience to the youthful Breakers roster, while also offering diversity on the floor where he can play as small forward or shooting guard.
In 2007 Thomas was named as part of the All-NBL first team.
