The Breakers play the first of a double header on the road on Wednesday night when they take on the Cairns Taipans, hoping to pick up their first road win of the season.

Head coach Andrej Lemanis is emphasising the need for his side to be aggressive in mindset and in physical approach if they are to get the job done.

"We need to come out and play well, it is as simple as that and we haven't done that on the road yet. The challenge for us tonight is to start with the level of intensity required to win from tip off. We haven't done a good job of coming out and setting a tone from start, establishing our style of play from the beginning and exerting dominance on a game from the opening tip."

Lemanis says Cairns are themselves under some pressure, with talk in the local press that they too need to up the intensity.

"Cairns media and the team are putting out some stuff about them being under pressure and having to step up their own start to games. They have some things to prove for themselves so tonight could be a tense one."

The Breakers are all fit and ready, with only Kirk Penney and Alex Pledger back home recovering from their back and knee injuries respectively.

John Rillie has another week with the play book and his new team-mates but will be used in a similar vein on Wednesday night and on Friday against his old team the Crocodiles in Townsville.
