About Asia Downunder
About Asia Downunder
Asia Downunder is all about Asians in New Zealand, their lives, their interests and their achievements. Asia Downunder features stories about Asian Kiwis, young and old, from topics as diverse as art, business, sport, music, fashion, culture, lifestyle, food and many more. The show might tackle topical or even controversial stories such as refugees, race or health.
There will also be in depth coverage of Kiwi Asian issues and some of the shows are dedicated to single issue topics. On the table are plans to make shows devoted to conservation, youth achievement and also a show devoted to how New Zealand has welcomed refugees. Documentaries will be in the mix with two in the pipeline about New Zealanders lending a helping hand to developing country communities.
Our on-screen reporters will continue to bring plenty of interesting stories which will spark discussion in upcoming programmes. Asia Downunder's reporting line-up for 2011:
Bharat Jamnadas - an experienced journalist who has been with the programme since the very first episode in 1994.
Glenna Casalme - a television current affairs reporter from the Philippines who made New Zealand her home three years ago.
Milda Emza - a full of life reporter and former sports presenter from Indonesia, who is always keen to chase up any story with an energetic sporty feel.
Kadambari Gladding - film graduate, singer and former model from the Indian coastal state of Goa, and an environmentalist who loves all things natural
Geraldine Ramirez - a young and motivated reporter who loves telling 'people' stories and getting to the heart of the matter.
