One News reporter Heather du Plessis-Allan is among the group who've instead spent the day waiting at Ohakea Air Base as The Boeing 757 they were meant to go on was grounded by flap problems.

She says media have been told a replacement plane's is being flown from

Perth overnight, to replace the faulty 757 grounded in Auckland.

The party is now expected to fly out at 4pm once the new Boeing has been reconfigured from freight into a passenger carrier and passed teh required safety tests.
