A New Zealand round-the-world crew would not be complete without the wisdom of Tony Rae on board.

"Trae" recently celebrated 25 years with Team New Zealand and its forerunners. Joined the team for the 1987 America's Cup challenge at Fremantle and has been there ever since.

He managed to get in a few Whitbread/Volvo races between Cup campaigns, the most recent with CAMPER, which finished second overall in the 2011/12 Volvo Ocean Race.

His first round-the-world race was on Lion New Zealand in 1985/86 and was on Steinlager 2 during the 1989/90 Whitbread, where the crew won every leg of the race.

Was medic on board the winning maxi New Zealand Endeavour in 1993/94. Eighteen years later, he took on the medic role again for CAMPER.

Rae has sailed in five Cup regattas, winning in 1995 and 2000.
