22:20 Thanks for joining us for this glorious night of football action.
We hope you enjoyed the updates as much as we enjoyed watching the match!
Full match report and reaction to this historic win to follow.
See you in South Africa!!!!
22:02: The All Whites played out of their skin tonight and not only is reaching South Africa a fantastic feat for the boys, it is fantastic for New Zealand football!
21:55 There are scenes of absolute joy in Wellington as the fans go wild for the All Whites!
Coach Ricki Herbert is so happy he just said a swear word on live TV, twice, and goalscoring hero Rory Fallon has just thanked Jesus!
21:50 THE ALL WHITES HAVE REACHED THE
2010 FIFA WORLD CUP!!!
21:46 Stupid challenge from Tim Brown sees Bahrain
awarded a free kick. Bahrain fire the ball and the All Whites fail
to clear it. Shot goes in but it's not given as Paston was said to
be impeded.
Brown has now gone off with what looks like a bad injury.
21:40 Another sub for Bahrain. Mahmood Abdulrahman on for Sayed Jalal.
Chris Wood comes on for Killen for the All Whites who have just EIGHT MINUTES to hold on to their one goal lead!
21:31: Bahrain make their first sub of the night as striker Ismaeel Abdullatif, the player who scored the crucial goal for Bahrain in their tie with Saudi Arabia to take them into this clash.
21:28 Another blinding chance for the All Whites as Leo Bertos puts in a perfect cross for Shane Smeltz who has been fairly quiet tonight, but the A-League top-goalscorer fails to hit the back of the net.
White balloons are also making their way onto the pitch. Someone needs to deal with them before we have another Beach Ball-gate on our hands!
21:22: Herbert makes his first sub of the night. Andrew Barron is on for Michael McGlinchey
21:16: Mark Paston is having the game of his life as Bahrain continue to assault the All Whites goal.
The Kiwis desperately need to keep hold of the ball as Bahrain throw everything but the kitchen sink at them!
21:10 PENALTY
Drama early in the second half. Tony Lochhead brings down Abdulla Omar and the ref points to the penalty spot.
Salmeen steps up to take the shot. But a weak delivery sees Paston make an easy save.
Sigh of relief for the All Whites.
21:06: Both sides are back out on the pitch and it is Bahrain who have come out guns blazing.
They know that just one goal can break New Zealand's hearts.
The All Whites now need to defend like their lives depend on it.
20:56: The All Whites lead Bahrain 1-0 after the first half of their crucial World Cup qualifying clash.
The goal came when Rory Fallon latched onto the end of a glorious Leo Bertos free kick, causing pandemonium in Wellington
New Zealand have looked the more likely side to score throughout the game which is proving to be end-to-end stuff, with Rory Fallon and Leo Bertos giving their all to this match.
Bahrain are still a threat and are most dangerous on the break due to some suspect All Whites defending.
But after a fantastic performance from the home side the boys will surely come back out full of confidence!
20:46: GOOOOOOOOOOOAL! NZ 1 Bahrain 0 Rory Fallon!
20:33: Scare for New Zealand as Bahrain storm forward, a powerful shot heads for the All Whites goal.
NZ fail to deal and there is a fumble in the box.
Bahrain's Salmeen latches onto the end of it before Mark Paston hugs the ball.
20:23: Bertos wins a free kick right on the edge of the box. He takes the shot but swings it round the goal.
20:20: Awesome volley from Killen at the Bahrain goal, but the crossbar gets the better of him. NZ looking likely to score!
20:15 Another free kick for the All Whites coming from Leo Bertos. Killen gets on the end of the ball. But once again not enough power.
Rory Fallon brings down Sayed Mohamed Adnan who rolls around on the floor doing his best Didier Drogba impression.
No card is shown but the All Whites need to be careful as the Red are going down easily under the Kiwis' challenges.
20:10: After suffering an early onslaught from Bahrain the All Whites are starting to get into the game.
There is attempt on goal from Ryan Nelsen coming from a set piece, but there is not enough power on the end as the ball shoots over the net.
20:05 Bahrain have started strongly with an early touch for Jaycee John.
All Whites conceed an early corner. Pressure is on. But well cleared from the NZ defence.
20:01: KICK OFF! This is it now. 90 minutes to make history for New Zealand football. Nothing but a win for these boys will do!
19:56: Both sides line up for their respective national anthems as a New Zealand flag is proudly unfurled.
19:52: The All Whites have walked onto the pitch to rapturous applause, while Bahrain are greeted with boos from the home crowd.
All Whites coach Ricki Herbert is looking cool, calm and collected.
19:45: Excitement is building in Wellington as the All Whites get set to take on Bahrain in their crucial World Cup qualifier.
Both teams have just been named with Michael McGlinchey set to start as Simon Elliott is on the bench.
Herbet is expected to field a 3-4-3 formation although it is likely to be more of a 4-3-3

Epic. That's the only word that comes close to describing the match last night and the way the boys aquitted themselves. And a special mention for a man who was absolutely immense: Ivan Vicelich. Superb, boys, absolutely superb!
