All Black prop Neemia Tialata has backtracked over Twitter comments yesterday that he and Ma'a Nonu missed the team bus to London at the weekend.
It seems the tweets, in which he said they had to pay a $NZ456 taxi fare from Cardiff to London, were a hoax.
"220.00 pounds to London ain't too bad ... LOL in a cab heading to London with my boi Ma'a (Nonu), missed the team bus this morning haha...," Tialata tweeted, including a photo of the two All Blacks in a taxi.
If the story was true, the taxi would have cost one pound per kilometre. The distance from Cardiff to London is approximately 220 km.
"Me and skux (Nonu) made it safely here in London after a 3 1/2 hour taxi ride from Cardiff haha... We thought it'll be faster than taking the train," he later tweeted.
But since the original story was posted, the 120kg prop has tweeted: "Bahaha like I said b4 don't believe everything I tweet!Lol Hava look at the time I said we missed the bus and the time the bus left 5pm fail".
Tialata was called up into the All Blacks' touring squad following an injury to Ben Franks. He was the only player in the 29-strong squad who did not play a single minute on tour.
The bulk of the All Blacks' squad is due back in Auckland today
but Tialata and Nonu will stay on in London. Both are expected to
play for the Barbarians club against South Africa at Twickenham on
