Kieran Read is a story of perseverance, a hardworking backrower who
richly deserves his All Black place. Read was unlucky to miss
selection for the June Tests in 2008, after an outstanding Super 14
for the then champion Crusaders, but as expected was named in the
squad for the Grand Slam tour. Read is a tireless worker with a
big-match temperament and seems destined to be an All Blacks
regular for many years to come. Touted to be the next All Blacks
captain, Read was named New Zealand Rugby player of the year in
2010 and was a key member of the 2011 World Cup winning
squad.
