Brad Thorn is a rugby-league convert who has seen his sporting career go full-circle. After initially turning down the opportunity to represent the All Blacks in 2001, as he contemplated his sporting future, Thorn made his Test debut in 2003. Another successful stint in rugby league - where he won a NRL premiership with the Brisbane Broncos in 2006 - followed but rugby again called in 2008 and he went on to win a Super 14 title with the Crusaders and again cemented an All Black berth. Thorn is not a traditional ball-winning lock-forward but, is nonetheless, the powerhouse of the All Blacks' pack. 2011 will be his swansong season after he recently signed with  Japanese club Fukuoka Sanix Blues.
