Part of the 2011 World Cup winning All Blacks squad, Ben Franks can play both sides of the scrum but specialises at tighthead. He has played for the New Zealand under 19 and under 21 sides (alongside younger brother Owen) and first played for Canterbury in 2005 before shifting north to the Tasman union. He and his brother Owen can refutably bench press 140 kilograms.
