About Activate
This show is now off air.
Activate:
TV2's popular teen cooking show Activate returns for a second
series with a cupboard full of recipes and challenges.
Studio 2's Matt Gibb takes over from Tu Rongonui as quiz master in
the show that pits two teams of three high school students against
each other in the kitchen.
The aim of the show is to see which team can cook the best version
of a set meal.
While they cook, they're asked questions relating to food and
health which involve mad comedy skits, given challenges to test
their culinary skills as well as a physical challenge where
technique rather than speed scores the points.
After the meals have been judged, the show reaches boiling point
with the frantic 'Final Fat Burner' where both teams have to pedal
madly for 60 seconds of quick-fire questions to win the
game.
The competition involves 16 high schools from all over New Zealand
made up of three Year 11 students in a 15-part series that builds
to semis and a grand final to find the best team of teen chefs in
the country.
Joining host Matt are dietitian Anna Sloan and fitness trainer/chef
Ish Cheyne who judge the cooking, with Ish setting the physical
challenges.
The recipe for Activate is part cooking show, part quiz show,
part comedy show, sprinkled with tips on eating healthy and staying
fit.
It's got everything and the kitchen sink!
