Paul the Oracle Octopus has got it right yet again after Spain's defeat of Germany in the FIFA World Cup semi-final this morning, in spite of Argentinean fans saying they want to eat him.

Spain downed Germany 1-0 after a 73rd minute goal from defender Carles Puyol.

It means Paul, who was born in England but now lives in Germany, has continued his 100% accuracy rate in predicting who will win World Cup games that Germany is playing in.

Paul makes his choice by picking between two containers of food, each bearing the flag of the two teams playing.

Germany was in a state of shock yesterday after Paul picked Spain, but there was hope there would not be a repeat of the Euro 2008 game where Spain beat Germany despite Paul's prediction of German victory.

That was Paul's only inaccurate pick of that tournament and he has never been wrong since. He now has an overall record of 10-1.

The octopus has become an internet phenomenon for his uncanny ability to pick winners, but some aren't so impressed. The Telegraph is reporting that angry Argentinean fans have expressed their desire to eat Paul after he accurately predicted Germany would beat Argentina in the quarter-final.

But his keeper insists Paul is well looked after and said: "There are always people who want to eat our octopus."

It is unknown if Paul will make a prediction on the third place play-off match on Sunday morning.
