High heels, high hopes
Critics call it a dated practice in a modern world, exploitative even, but 20/20's Sonya Wilson puts you in the judge's chair, with an exclusive all-access pass behind the scenes of Miss World New Zealand. We follow 17 women desperate to take out the crown, while mastering the highest of heels and everything else from beach beauty to top model and talent competitions. As the pressure mounts, the nerves, the sequins and the sparkle powder keep increasing. So why do they do it? Well, as one contestant tells 20/20, the pageant is her way of proving girls really can do anything.

The survival gene
You're chilling out at a concert enjoying the music, when suddenly you realise the band's fireworks display has started a raging inferno. Your first instinct is to run right? Well in this shocking story, most of the concert-goers simply freeze. 20/20 looks at why some people survive a tragedy, while others die - and talks to an expert about whether there's a survival gene. You'll be amazed at what it is that separates the survivors from the rest, as they explain firsthand why they knew what to do - and actually did it.

Getting a grip
Nine-time grand slam champion Monica Seles once ruled women's tennis. At 16 she became the youngest woman ever to win the French Open, and in a two-year stretch, won seven out of nine grand slam tennis championships. But all the glory came to a screeching halt when she was stabbed by a deranged fan. She speaks out on 20/20 about the attack that turned her into a binge eater, and how she was ridiculed as a ten-tonne has-been when she finally tried to make her comeback. She reveals how she found the strength to break her addiction - and how she beat the flab - dropping an incredible amount of weight.

Our family
As the world's most famous pregnant man prepares for the imminent birth of his second child, we talk to other families who say they're sick of being criticised because they also break the mold. One wife explains why she decided to stay with her husband and raise their children, even after he decided to become a she. And we talk to another couple, who decided to hold off on the wife becoming a man until after the birth of their son. As they tell 20/20, where others see problems, they only see love.

PLUS Grounded - And the story you must see before you fly off on a winter break! We are there as a planeload of passengers face the ultimate nightmare - stranded on the tarmac, for nine hours, with a blocked toilet and some very unhappy travellers. Another passenger even made his own video which has become an internet sensation, after waiting seven hours for take-off surrounded by screaming babies. 20/20 tells you what your rights are... and why you could be in for an unpleasant surprise.

The best of New Zealand and international current affairs - 20/20 - presented by Miriama Kamo with reporters Pete Cronshaw, Beth Roche and Sonya Wilson.
