The UK diet industry is worth a billion pounds, and is thriving now more than ever.

For slimming clubs, business is booming. And for the millions of men and women, the title of Slimmer of the Year would be a dream come true.

But once you have won the award, what happens next?

Journalist Sally Ann Voak catches up with three Slimmer Champions six years after their awards.

Julie-Anne has put half the weight back on, but is now a better mum than when she was diet-obsessed. Melanie has kept the weight off, but sacrificed her family for it. Sue's weight loss made her look old, so she put her weight back on again, too.
