New Year's Day movie madness

High School Musical 3

Tired? Hungover? Not yet ready to face the ridiculous New Years resolutions you made after the countdown last night? Stay in and relax/recover with TV2.

Following yesterday's screening of The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, today Amber Tamblyn (House), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) and Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) reunite with The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2 at midday.

The original film follows four lifelong best friends who keep in touch by sending letters and a pair of jeans that fits them all perfectly.

This time around, the girls have completed their first year of college, and so have been apart for a long time, and with differing plans for the summer, they are only going to get pulled further away from one another.

This time, it's going to take more than a hurried note or even a treasured pair of pants to keep their lives connected.

At 2:30pm, Zach Efron is back as basketball star Troy in the third instalment of the all-singing, all-dancing High School Musical trilogy.

High school seniors Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) face the prospect of being separated from one another as they head off in different directions to college, in this latest film Senior Year.

Joined by the rest of the Wildcats, they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about their future.

Can Gabriella and Troy's romance survive the big change in their lives?

With incredible new music and exciting dance numbers, this movie extravaganza delivers plenty of high-energy entertainment from East High's talented and youthful ensemble cast.

Later, at 5:15pm, Wallace and Gromit are back and in search of cheese in Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out.

Wallace and Gromit are excited. Not only is it tea-time, but they are trying to decide where to go for their annual bank holiday picnic.

However, as they settle into their favourite armchairs with holiday brochures and plates of crackers, they make a momentous discovery: "No cheese, Gromit!"

Yes, our heroes have run out of their favourite food and all the shops are shut.

Undeterred, Wallace comes up with an extreme solution to the cheese shortage.

Outside the moon is shining brightly - and everyone knows what the moon is made of. Their picnic destination is decided.

Wallace immediately sets about the construction of a bright orange space rocket.

Gromit reluctantly lends a paw; he seems to doubt whether it will get off the ground.

Nevertheless, the home-made spacecraft blasts off into the stratosphere, with a thunderous, ground-shaking roar.

But their moon-tasting expedition arouses the anger of the moon's resident guardian of the cheese - a coin-operated robot with a bad attitude and a penchant for skiing...
