The SkyCity theatre was a sell-out for the world premiere of Kiwi murder-thriller Harry Jenson. James Napier-Robertson writes, directs and produces this grim tale of slayings among the NZ flora and fauna.

Gareth Reeves stars as a murder author with severe writer's block who ends up on a tramp through the wilderness with a variety of other hikers. But as night falls, the first of the murders happens, kick-starting a race against time to unveil the killer within the group.

Napier-Robertson shows some nice touches and the cast give it all that they've got. This feels like an American who-done-it but with a Kiwi twist. Problems lie with some plot holes, a lack of some character backgrounds and an unsatisfactory ending but plaudits for a great-looking movie and some fine acting from the likes of Cameron Rhodes and Reeves.
Definitely worth a look.
