Sooo looking forward to seeing this tomorrow afternoon!

My Troll 2 experience was only about 3-4 years ago at one of Ant Timpson's 24hr Movie Marathons, and man is that a great big screen experience if you ever get the chance. Of course our veiwing was made all the better for being stacked full of caffeine-jacked geek fanboys and by being interrupted in the middle of the film by a phone interview by Ant of George Hardy (the dad mentioned below) who was stoked to know that a couple of hundred people halfway across the world were watching this film at 2:30am and were loving it. Magic!

I'd encourage everyone to try and make it to Ant's interview with Michael Paul Stephenson and a couple of the guys from Winnebago Man this coming Thursday evening in the festival lounge (below the Civic Theatre in the old Wintergarden theatre). Sensational. A new favourite in the list of great doco's about the American underbelly (Cocaine Cowboys, Inside Deep Throat,Tribute). No need to see Troll 2 first to enjoy it fully - tho it will make you want to find Troll 2 at Videon! As the cast of loveable characters & eccentrics come out of middle America & beyond to enjoy their unexpected infamy, you will be laughing & cheering them on. At times heartfelt, and when the film drops the bombshell of Troll 2's leading lady, our audience full of the Cool Kids glitterati, were stunned in to silence. But it's quickly back to the fun, and to hope the film stops short of exploitation and that main man George Hardy pulls back from the brink of making a fool of himself - it does, he did. A nice study of the difference of being part of a cult as opposed to the Next Big Thing. The night was capped off by a phone call from Alabama to the cinema from George Hardy who dutifully did the line - "You can't piss on hospitality - I won't let you!"

Who knew that one of the films deemed one of the worst ever made would make such a good subject for a doco?Best Worst Movie is a study of how Troll 2, deemed the worst film on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes became a cult phenomenon and how that affected the lives of those who starred in it - Michael Paul Stephenson, the child star of the film had been hiding from its "success" but suddenly decided to embrace it one day as he began to document how the cult phenomenon was taking over the world.George Hardy, the main lead in Troll 2, is the star of this film as he tries to negotiate his way back into showbiz after a lifetime in dentistry - while he's the happier end of the spectrum, the film also catches up with the other actors(who have varying degrees of success)and the insane Italian director who refuses to believe he made a bad film.Heart warming, amusing and unexpectedly funny BWM is a joy.See it soon and join the cult! Altogether now -"You can't p*** on hospitality - I won't let you!"
